Götzens, Tyrol
The so-called Feldkapelle on the Götzner Felder, at a fork in the path in a completely undeveloped environment, is a cultural landscape accent in the municipality of Götzens. The brick, open, windowless chapel with a steep, shingle-covered gabled roof, cross orb and weather vane, three-sided choir apse and wide round arch opening was documented as being built in 1675. The chapel shows typical architectural features of the 17th century, but the Annunciation fresco on the gable above the entrance was probably created in 1828. The interior houses an early Baroque altar with the miraculous image of the nursing Madonna by Walter Szusitsch. In front of the chapel stands a field cross framed by two birch trees and a bench in front of it. It is worth lingering here for a while during a walk through the Götzner Felder.
