Fasnachtfigur "Wilder"

At the Schleicherlaufen, the traditional carnival custom of Telfs that only takes place every five years, the "Wild Men" play a special role as guardians of order and space-makers for the Schleicher. The terrifying figures are clad in garments made of tree beard – which is a tree lichen – and wear gnarled wooden masks. In the center of the roundabout in Obermarktstraße, an oversized "Wilder" cast from aluminum is enthroned. The figure was created by sculptor Bernhard Dietl.
