Viticulture has been of great importance in Neckenmarkt since the Middle Ages. In the museum, visitors learn about the essential differences between viticulture then and now. One part of the museum is dedicated to flag-swinging, an old tradition from Neckenmarkt, whose origin dates back to 1620. During the Battle of Lackenbach, the farmers of Neckenmarkt distinguished themselves through their heroic efforts. In gratitude, they received a flag from Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, among other privileges. Even today, on the Sunday after Corpus Christi, the boys commemorate the bravery of their ancestors in historical Hajduken uniforms through the custom of flag-swinging. Since 2018, flag-swinging has been part of Austria's intangible cultural heritage.
