The Friesach Castle Construction is extraordinary in itself: On a hill south of the medieval town of Friesach, a hilltop castle is being built using the craftsmanship knowledge from long-past times. The focus of interest is the building process, without the aid of modern equipment. Only through the traditional, artisanal skills of those involved, supported by strong Noriker horses, will a castle complex with two towers, a palas, curtain walls, and a chapel be created over a construction period of approximately 40 years.The construction site is a "history laboratory". Visitors can watch the craftsmen at their laborious activities, rediscover knowledge thought lost, and thus learn from the past. They experience medieval everyday life, immerse themselves in the Middle Ages, step out of the everyday narrow, oppressive time scheme and into a "delayed time". And they marvel at the contemporary medieval craftsmanship, which was accustomed to doing without technical aids. They "experience" the authentic working day on a medieval construction site in peace and contemplation.
