Eisstockschießen auf Natureis

Ice stock sport is an old folk sport and is traditionally practiced with wooden sticks in the Mühlviertel. "Stockeln" (ice stock sport) is played almost daily on frozen natural ponds. A small schnapps for inner warmth is a must. The social entertainment on the ice rink often continues with a "Bratlessen" (roast meal) in the inn. In low temperatures, the following natural pond facilities are available: Thallerteich in Plöcking, Egl-Lacke in Erdmannsdorf. In the evening hours, the ice rinks are illuminated with floodlights.
