Whoever thinks that ice stock sport (Eisstockschießen) is only for the older generation has probably been mistaken. Ice stock sport is currently experiencing a revival. Whether in pairs or in a larger group, it is definitely fun. In ice stock sport, you need to be very precise and aim as accurately as possible. The heavy, round ice stock is picked up with one hand on the stick and swung onto the ice surface in an upright position, where it then slides and ideally comes to a stop close to the Daube (target) or even hits the Daube. That’s all the knowledge needed for now; the rest is just luck or practice! The ice stock rink in Kleinarl is a natural rink, which can be visited at any time by prior arrangement (+43 664 1309 884 / Eisstockverein Kleinarl). Ice stocks can be rented on site for a small fee. Only good footwear is required.
