Eibensee Hochmoor Wildmoos Marienköpfl

The hike to Eibensee is one of the most beautiful and naturally diverse in the vicinity of Fuschl am See. Rarely are so many different landscape elements and biotopes found on such an attractive hike. Meadows, moors and moor forests, purple moor-grass meadows and beech forests, rocky areas and spruce forests can be discovered on this route. Starting point/End point: On the federal road towards St. Gilgen at Haus Füßlmühle. Route: Near Füßlmühle on the federal road towards St. Gilgen, we start our hike along the Eibenseebach. From there, we follow the forest road, past the old forester's house. At both turn-offs, we keep right and follow the signs towards Eibensee. Below the Schatzwand there is a clearing where beech trees are regenerating beautifully, forming an almost impenetrable thicket. We continue uphill along the Eibenseebach. Here, beautiful limestone rocks with typical crevice vegetation, such as the blue-flowering Scheuchzer's bellflower, can be discovered. We go through the game fence, keep right at the next turn-off and follow the course of the stream. Shortly afterwards, we reach the Wildmoos protected landscape area at Eibensee - a partially drained moor with beautiful purple moor-grass meadows. Past the game meadow, we take the middle path, which leads us uphill again, out of the protected landscape area. We pass the game fence, follow the forest road over two hairpin bends and reach a somewhat hidden turn-off to the right to Eibensee. After a short stretch of forest, Eibensee suddenly lies before us in all its glory. On the southern shore of the lake, a small path leads towards St. Gilgen/Kleiner-Kapelle. The 15-minute ascent to the Marienköpfl is worthwhile. A beautiful viewpoint with a small summit cross. Another path leads towards Almkogel to St. Lorenz and Mondsee.
