The 'Dürrenecksee in Lungau', originating from the post-glacial warm period, with its rare habitat type of quaking bog, is part of the large swamp complex at Überling. In the wet to moist shoreline zone, small pondweed, bladderwort, sedge species, the very rare long-leaved sundew, lady's slipper orchids, and the marsh gentian can be found. The moist hollows in the quaking bog serve as breeding sites for the common frog and the alpine newt. The insect world is also rich. Source: Land Salzburg
