A wild and romantic rock gorge with a doctorate - the longest gorge in Upper Austria and the second longest gorge in Austria! Experience the natural spectacle of cascading water in Upper Austria's longest gorge, with a length of over 1.5 km from the ticket office and 2.7 km from parking lot 2, and 500 wooden and stone steps. The gorge is also the starting point for the approximately 5-hour 3-Hut Hike (Bosruckhütte, Rohrauerhaus, and Hofalm). The Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm is suitable for small children and older people with appropriate fitness and hiking experience. After exiting, you will reach the international long-distance hiking trail (E 601 via alpina), where a beautiful and popular circular hike is available. A little tired from the climb, you can rest and fortify yourself with good home cooking at the Bosruckhütte, the Rohrauerhaus, or before the descent to Spital am Pyhrn at the Hofalm. Dr. Moritz Vogelgesang was the municipal doctor of Spital am Pyhrn. As he was also the chairman of the beautification association, he made great efforts to make this wild and romantic, over 1.5 km long rock gorge accessible, which is why it bears his name. However, it is often mistakenly referred to as Vogelsang-Klamm. The Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm was first partially made accessible in 1906 for the summer visitors of that time. In 1908, the gorge was destroyed by floods. From 1926 to 1927, the entire rock gorge was prepared for hiking by the municipality of Spital am Pyhrn with stairs and footbridges anchored in the vertical rock. When traversing the Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm, approximately 500 steps must be climbed. These stairs and footbridges are always thoroughly checked before opening at the beginning of May and are well maintained throughout the summer, so that visitors can safely and without danger experience the natural spectacle of cascading water. In 2006, the gorge celebrated its 100th anniversary.
