Dornbrunnen Fürstenfeld

Dornbrunnen Fürstenfeld

Fürstenfeld, Styria

Until the beginning of the 19th century, a municipal horse trough, also called a horse pond, was located at this spot. The size of the trough likely corresponded to today's basin. Further public horse troughs existed in the Ungarvorstadt and also in the Grazervorstadt. Strong wooden railings were always located next to the troughs, with iron rings mounted on the front to tie up the horses. This fountain was built according to the plans of the renowned architect Prof. Boris Podrecca in the years 1995/1996. The water emerged through 7 thorns and disappeared through grates into an invisible basin. In the course of the redesign of Hauptstraße in 2002, a modification was also carried out according to the plans of the Rauer office. The fountain received an open water surface, whose enclosure, similar to a moat, is terraced. Additionally, seating in the form of benches was integrated into the enclosure of the basin.
