"Pure folk culture" can be found in the approximately 35 reconstructed buildings, all originating from the Heideboden region. Here, as a museum guest, you can enter the houses, linger in the rooms, indulge in memories, or simply let the atmosphere take effect.Josef Haubenwallner's formerly small private collection has been expanded over the last 20 years into a large regional open-air museum. It provides insight into daily village life and rural farming in the Heideboden from around 1890 to the 1960s. Then came the major socio-economic changes, and the "Hoadbauern" (Heideboden farmers) sought and found connection to the "new, modern era."The village museum is divided into three areas. The first deals with the basics of securing existence – from grain cultivation to beet farming; the second with provisioning for personal needs. Behind a small pond lies the third part, the ideal typical village with everything that once belonged to it – village green and pond, inn, school, cinema, municipal office, fire department, craftsmen's workshops, shops, milk house, gristmill, ... and even a church, slightly elevated on a hill and towering over everything.Average duration of stay: 2-3 hoursGuided tours are only possible with advance booking and for an additional charge.On public holidays, it is open from 10:00 to 18:00.
