The highest summit of the Donausteig is right near Vichtenstein: the Haugstein with its 895 m is the highest point of the Sauwald and a true highlight. The Burgstall observation tower, at 613 m, is the highest elevation directly on the Danube. At the Donaublick near Ottensheim, you have a wonderful view of the Eferdinger Becken; even a summit cross and summit book are present here. The Pfenningberg is an idyllic forest summit with a magnificent view of the city of Linz. At the divide between Machland and Strudengau, you will find the Gobelwarte near Grein. Both landscapes can be seen from the tower. The highest point of the Mühlviertel loop of the Donausteig is the Wetzlstein panoramic view with a magnificent distant view of the Ötscher and the Gobelwarte near Grein.
