ausstellungmuseumstour

After 44 years, the Diocesan Museum is moving to the Bergkirche. The museum was founded in 1980 on the occasion of the diocese's 20th anniversary and will now find its new home on the Oberberg. Together with the Diocesan Museum, the treasury will also be back in the Bergkirche, after having been housed in the Diocesan Museum since 2018. Particularly noteworthy is the baroque sacristy of the Bergkirche, which is now publicly accessible for the first time. Special exhibition 100 years of the provincial patron St. Martin The opening of the new location coincides with a special exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the provincial patron Saint Martin. The focus of this exhibition is Rome's decree of appointment from December 10, 1924, which highlights the significance and history of the provincial patron. The initiative to appoint Saint Martin as provincial patron came from the provincial government at the time. Bergkirche as part of the new museum center The Bergkirche plays a central role in this exhibition and is part of a newly emerging museum center. As a vibrant place of a parish community, it offers the ideal setting for such a significant exhibition. The opening on June 5, 2024, at 7 p.m. thus promises not only a historical moment for the Diocesan Museum and the Bergkirche, but also a cultural enrichment for the entire region.
