The Tauplitz is the largest lake high plateau in Central Europe. The Tauplitzalm is located in the heart of Austria, in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut, and at 1,650 meters is the highest lake high plateau in Central Europe. It offers ideal conditions for mountain sports and enjoying nature: well-developed hiking routes along six picturesque lakes, the Gamsblick via ferrata for the adventurous, challenging mountain tours for experienced alpinists, and leisurely walking paths for relaxed excursions. The environmentally friendly ascent with the 4-seater chairlift ensures a comfortable start to the nature experience. The plateau impresses with a wide panorama, clear mountain air, and a feeling of freedom. Surrounded by blooming Alm (mountain pasture) meadows, where depending on the season, gentian, alpine rose, globe flowers, stone carnations, or hellebore can be found. In autumn, golden larch slopes bathe the landscape in warm light. The high plateau is particularly impressive during the 6-Lakes Hike. An unforgettable nature experience amidst alpine beauty. Bicycles are transported free of charge with the 4-seater chairlift. From the Tauplitzalm, the descent then goes back via the Tauplitzalm Alpenstraße into the valley to Bad Mitterndorf. The return journey to Tauplitz is on the Salzkammergut Cycle Path "R 19".
