Die Kleinkeuschler & Verstossene Schätze in Straden

Straden, Styria

ausstellungmuseumstour

Welcome to the Kleinkeuschlerhügel of Anita and Karl Schwarz-Marberl. Between Straden and Bad Gleichenberg, in the middle of the Thermal & Volcanic Land, lies this special place that offers insights into rare farm animal breeds, extraordinary plants, and lovingly compiled collections. On an area of about four hectares, the family is dedicated to preserving rare farm animal breeds and old cultivated plants. The animals are kept outdoors all year round, and farming is done without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. They are fed with farm-grown and regionally available feed. The goal is to make traditional forms of animal husbandry and plant cultivation visible and to pass them on. In addition to animals and cultivated plants, visitors can expect an impressive variety of other special features. Over 200 different cactus species, including well-known specimens such as the "mother-in-law's chair," can be seen, as well as an extensive mineral collection with finds from all over the world. The offer is complemented by the collection of "rejected treasures" – extraordinary everyday objects with history – as well as Kleinkeuschler Nostalgia, which opens a view into past working worlds with historical equipment. The Kleinkeuschlerhügel is a place to discover, marvel, and pause – ideal for anyone interested in agriculture, history, and special collections.
