Up the mountain and into adventure – a varied program awaits visitors at the Wilden Berg in Mautern. The valley station is the starting point for exciting experiences. From there, there are several ways to get to the top: On foot, you can reach the Wilden Berg via the forest hiking trail, passing numerous stations on the topics of wood, forest, and nature. The chairlift comfortably takes passengers uphill and already offers first glimpses of some of the 300 Alpine animals. Families with strollers can take the park bus, where dogs with muzzles and leashes are also allowed. Activities at Wilden Berg Once at the top, exciting activities await, as varied as the panorama that park visitors can enjoy: Little explorers experience a real Alpine safari with native animals at Wilden Berg. Bears, wolves, lynxes, chamois, ibex, deer, special goat breeds, donkeys, marmots, and many other animals await visitors. The daily animal schedule includes feedings of bears, wildcats, foxes, and raccoons. From Tuesday to Sunday, impressive bird of prey flight shows take place twice daily. A guided tour through the park's own bee house is also on the program. At the children's farm, children can even experience and observe the animals up close. In the Kinder-Stadl (children's barn), a true paradise awaits little adventurers: three suspension bridges, a long tunnel slide, a room for climbing, playing, and exercising, a craft and relaxation room – here they can really let off steam. And who didn't love it when their feet landed in soft hay and it got really dusty? Children can also experience this at Wilden Berg: hay jumping in the Kinder-Stadl. For active children, the play park offers slides several meters high, swings, carousels, and water games. Some activities are subject to a fee. Further animal experiences include full moon tours. Those who want to step into the role of an animal keeper for a day have a unique opportunity at Wilden Berg. Active participation begins as early as 07:30 in the morning. The task list includes items such as mucking out stables or assisting with show feedings. Culinary Offer at Wilden Berg Once the hunger for adventure is satisfied, it's time to delight your own palate. The Steinbockalm is one of the Kulinarium Steiermark establishments and welcomes hungry guests with a regional culinary program: from hearty delicacies to sweet temptations, everyone will find something. The lovingly prepared dishes are enjoyed either on the sun terrace or in the spacious dining room. Down in the valley, the Bärenstube offers cooked meals. And while the adults enjoy a coffee, the little visitors can let off steam at the playground. Exciting Descent After an eventful stay on the mountain, an equally exciting return journey awaits. In addition to the hiking trail, the bus ride, or the chairlift, the following options are available for the downhill route: With the specially constructed go-karts, the Mountainkarts, you can return to the valley adventurously. In the Wiesengleiter, on fine weather days, you can descend the Wilden Berg via the 1,200-meter-long summer toboggan run. Family Experiences at Wilden Berg Animal Keeper for a Day Are you 18 years old and want to experience working in an animal park up close? At Wilden Berg Mautern, you will accompany the animal keeper team for a day and actively help with food preparation, show feedings, and mucking out stables. Full Moon Hike A very special experience awaits you at Wilden Berg during a full moon: an atmospheric full moon hike with our experienced animal keepers. You will learn exciting facts about our nocturnal animals and their daily lives in the Alpine animal park. A real highlight are the feedings in the evening hours, when the mountain is bathed in a very special atmosphere. Conveniently, you go up with the shuttle bus. New this year: On two dates, this experience will be combined for the first time with an atmospheric dinner - for an unforgettable evening full of nature, enjoyment, and special moments on the mountain.
