ChristophorusHaus - MIVA

The Christophorushaus was built in 2003 and is the workplace of MIVA (Missions-, Verkehrs- und Arbeitsgemeinschaft). The house completely foregoes a heating stove. The earth's temperature cools the house in summer and warms it in winter! The Christophorushaus is an encounter - engineering meets ecological awareness. It is not only an office building, event room, and logistics center, but also a strong impulse for environmentally conscious building. MIVA is a relief organization of the Catholic Church with the task of financing vehicles for young churches and development cooperation projects: depending on the need, cars or SUVs, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, agricultural equipment, occasionally also boats or small ships, airplanes or pack animals. Founded in 1949, it is one of Austria's oldest relief organizations. Between 300 and 400 vehicle projects are realized annually in about 60 countries around the world. Do you want to get to know MIVA better? Find out what the mission of BBM (Beschaffungsbetrieb der MIVA, founded in 1989) is - during a visit to the Christophorushaus! A highlight is our Weltladen (world shop) - it gladly opens its doors during your visit! Fairtrade presentations are also offered upon request. The climate protection project "ChristophorusHaus" was built in 2003. It generates more energy than it needs and uses only one-seventh of what an average building of this size consumes. Coffee and cake or lunch/dinner can gladly be organized in the ChristophorusHaus. Advance registration is required. Bus parking spaces are available.
