Christi Himmelfahrt-Kapelle

This ornate field chapel is beautifully situated on the edge of the vineyard area, with a view of the castle. Before 1985, the year the chapel was built, a wooden cross stood at this spot. When their youngest daughter became seriously ill, the E. Pingitzer family vowed to replace this cross with a chapel if the child recovered. When it came to designing the chapel, the question of its naming also arose. Since it receives special attention precisely on Ascension Day as the 4th station of our traditional vineyard procession, the name of this feast was chosen. The content of this day, the Ascension of Christ, was depicted in the large painting on the front wall. The two angel figures in the niches come from the cemetery chapel that was demolished at the time.
