Burgruine Ortenburg

Ortenburg Castle Ruin The Ortenburg Castle Ruin thrones on a hill above Unterhaus near Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia. It was built around 1100 by the Counts of Ortenburg and was once one of the most powerful fortresses in the Drautal. After several destructions and fires, it fell into ruin from the 17th century onwards. Today, the imposing walls and towers commemorate its eventful history.
