The Eppenstein Castle Ruin, whose history dates back to around 1000 AD, was once an important defensive structure on the border between Carinthia and Styria. Today, the ruin is well preserved thanks to the dedicated Castle Association and is easily accessible via several hiking trails. From there, one enjoys a fantastic view of the Murtal and the surrounding mountain panorama. Benches and tables invite visitors to linger. A special highlight will be the newly constructed Skywalk: The approximately nine-meter-long and one-and-a-half-meter-wide walkway extends five meters freely over the abyss and offers a magnificent view over the Murtal, to the west as far as Falkenberg and Tremmelberg. This modern panoramic element makes a visit to the Eppenstein Castle Ruin an unforgettable experience that impressively combines history and nature.
