Here you will learn about the connections between politicians' decisions and their concrete effects on people's lives in this region, with a special focus on the municipality of Bildein and the neighboring municipality in Hungary, Pornoapati (Pernau). It is designed in the "Kredenz-System", meaning many drawers and cupboards to open and look into; everyone can get exactly as much information as they would like. Using everyday objects, photos, documents, and memories of the residents of this small border town, you embark on the trail of Burgenland's past. Numerous exhibits directly relate to the living world of the exhibition visitors, inviting them to touch and try out (which is almost always allowed in the geschichte(n)haus) and vividly show how living conditions have changed. The multimedia design and, not least, the loving care of the "geschichte(n)haus-ladies" make a visit to the Burgenländisches Geschichte(n)haus a true experience. Our museum also offers museum educational development programs for children and young people. Age-appropriate thematic tours invite school classes and youth groups of all ages to actively engage with the history of Burgenland and the topic of borders. The multi-award-winning Burgenländisches Geschichte(n)haus deals interactively, often playfully, and in a unique way with the history of Burgenland. The museum offers visitors insights into the history of Austria's youngest federal state from its birth in 1921 to the latest current developments. Also open on public holidays from 14:00 to 17:00.
