The elevation with the old castle at its peak is rocky and in parts extremely steep. A 20-meter-high rock face is also popular with climbers for their sport. Rare, near-natural gorge forests characterize the landscape. To the north, ash and sycamore maple dominate; to the south, warmth-loving summer linden, field maple, and rowan trees can be found. Since the forests on the Burgberg are hardly used economically, they present themselves to the observer very naturally with a high proportion of dead and old wood. Towards the south, facing the Enns, there are also valuable, unused meadow areas where rare plants increasingly find a valuable habitat.
