One of the most beautiful high Alms (mountain pastures) in the Salzkammergut, the Tauplitzalm, is located at an altitude of approx. 1,650 meters above sea level. Three of the six mountain lakes can be visited during the approximately one-hour leisurely train ride, and you get a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains (Totes Gebirge, Grimming, Dachstein, Stoderzinken, Schladminger Tauern, Gesäuse,...). After a thirty-minute ride, a stop is made at the Steirerseebankerl to enjoy the magical view over the Steirersee and towards the Sturzhahn. The unique variety of flowers is particularly fascinating. From early to mid-July (depending on the weather), the alpine rose bloom can be admired. From mid-June to early/mid-September, the young cattle enjoy the Alm summer on the Tauplitzalm.
