Also sometimes called Brunnenknabe (fountain boy). To this day, the gender of the statue is actually unknown. Erected in 1862 as a bird bath, it is one of the oldest monuments in the park; the sculptor is unfortunately unknown. Franz Grillparzer liked to sit on a hidden bench under lilac bushes near the Brunnenweibchen during his 4-week spa stay in 1866. He wrote in a letter to his friend Kati Fröhlich: "The air here is good, the food bad. All the meat here is so tough that I cannot manage it with my 120-guilder teeth (dentures!)."
