St. Koloman, Salzburg
The old Branterer Mill is a testament to an old form of economy and provides insights into mill technology from times gone by. This historic building also has a characteristic cultural significance. Short hike from the village square to the old Branterer Mill In about a 10-minute walk from the village square, you reach the old mill. It is located in a small woodland area by the Kolomans-Bach, which runs parallel to the main road. From the village square, follow the main road towards Golling/Abtenau. After the warehouse, turn left onto the hiking trail down to the Koloman-Bach. Initially, the creek is about 20 meters below the path. The embankment there drops steeply in a short section, so caution is advised! However, the level of the creek and the path quickly equalize. Upon reaching the Branterer Mill, you can admire the old structure and linger by the riverbank. There is also a resting bench. At the inflow to the mill wheel, there is a small waterfall over several stepped limestone slabs typical of the area. After the mill, cross the Lehenweg and continue along the creek through the forest for about another 10 minutes until you reach a clearing and the path ends. Return the same way back to the village square. Dining tip: At the village square, you can stop at the Tauglerei (please observe opening hours!). They serve homemade cakes, cold and hot dishes. Hearty home-style meals are served at the Alpengasthaus Alpenrose. The huts on Trattberg are open daily in summer. In winter, only the Enzianhütte is open on Trattberg.
