Birkhofkapelle

The chapel is located in the hamlet of Birkhof. The path there leads from the town center towards Oberperfuss Berg, past St. Josef's Church, then turning left to the Birkhof district. The idyllically situated chapel has been visible from afar since the 17th century. Before the church in Oberperfuss Berg was built, Holy Mass was read here every Wednesday. The chapel was enlarged by a wooden extension, which was demolished after the construction of St. Josef's Church in Oberperfuss Berg, due to road widening. The bell, melted down in World War II, was replaced by a new one in 1948. The current image of Mary is a copy of the old image, painted by the spiritual sister Bernadette from Zams.
