Bierflaschenmuseum

Pettenbach im Almtal, Upper Austria

ausstellungmuseumstour

"Even water becomes a noble drop if you mix it with malt and hops." In Pettenbach, Austria's only beer bottle museum was opened, currently featuring over 16,000 bottles from over 130 countries, of various sizes, shapes, colors, and origins. Passion, determination, motivation, and perseverance – these are terms associated with the ambitious beer bottle collector and originator of this unusual project, SR HOL Dipl.-Päd. Karl Kolnberger. The success of the museum is built upon this. Since its opening, numerous guided tours and beer tastings have taken place. With great love for the raw material and knowledge of processing, roasting, and alcohol content, visitors are introduced to the 2000-year-old natural product of beer and guided through the diverse world of this noble, healthy, and nutritious thirst quencher through the premises of the Bierhotel Ranklleiten. Beer brewing was already documented in the 9th century. Even Paracelsus, a medical scholar, natural scientist, and philosopher, referred to beer as "divine medicine" in the 15th century. "Every beer used to have and still has its own idea, its own variations, its diversity. The selection of hop varieties, roasting levels, and alcohol content make beer a unique taste experience." Beer enthusiast Karl Kolnberger Hotel owner Karl Stöhr, stemming from the well-known Vorchdorf beer dynasty, is delighted with the museum, which Karl Kolnberger set up and made accessible to the public with great effort and motivation. "Hops and malt" are certainly not "lost" with the two Karls – an idiom that, by the way, already appeared in Goethe in the 16th century and still holds relevance in our language today – quite the opposite. Thirsty connoisseurs, the curious, and interested, cheerful groups of visitors can expect a unique experience when visiting the museum under expert guidance. Afterwards, they can discuss their insights over a cozy meal – accompanied by selected beers and recommendations from beer expert Karl Stöhr. If it gets late, the Bierhotel invites guests to stay overnight in comfortable rooms with a view of the beautiful Almfluss. Promising, stylish, and enjoyable guided tours await all locals, day guests, and tourists, and add a special touch to birthday parties, anniversaries, company events, Christmas parties, or spontaneous weekend excursions. Admission: Voluntary donations and at your own risk! Guided tours: Appointment requested (also group tours) Contact: GH Ranklleiten or Karl Stöhr Karl Kolnberger: k.kolnberger@gmx.at; 0699/81795398
