The Bergbausiedlung is the second largest settlement, as well as a district of the municipality of St. Kathrein am Hauenstein. The northern part was used for mining (lignite extraction) until 1960. It was a miner's settlement of the Ratten - St. Kathrein coal mine. Today, many residential houses stand here, yet it is reminiscent of the former history of the place.
