Bauernkriegsbuche

On May 17, 1626, a deadly brawl between local farmers and Bavarian occupation soldiers was the trigger for the great "Upper Austrian Peasant War". The somewhat hidden inn "Habach" was the headquarters of the rebellious farmers (no longer an inn!).On an elevation - the beech tree was felled in 1937 - the farmers lit the beacon fire, which gave the signal for battle. On the occasion of the Peasant War commemorative celebrations in 1976, a beech tree was planted again.A memorial plaque at the former Habach inn commemorates the courageous uprising of the farmers.
