Ausstellung "Die aliens kommen"

Exhibition "The aliens are coming" Various opportunities for free and independent exploration and experiments are offered at the stations. The stations are suitable for children and young people of all ages. 6 sections from the source to the mouth provide insight and information about river dynamics, landscape, and life on the water as interactive building play areas. 1st Station: Source of the Danube "Here guests can guess what kind of ground they are wading on." So: take off your shoes and step into the fresh water for Kneipp. Four different types of rock are embedded in this stream arm and massage the feet while walking. 2nd Station: Alpine Mountain River with Barefoot Sensory Path and Storage Power Plant "Here, mill wheels are built into the riverbed, and their functionality is checked when flooded." Whoever has enough strength and courage to venture onto the wall of the storage power plant can open the sluice gates and cause a flooding of the "Mini-Danube." The mill wheels built into the riverbed begin to turn. In the "Geological Rock Laboratory," various types of rock from the Danube region are displayed. 3rd Station: Schlögener Schlinge and Run-of-the-River Power Plant "Here, it's simply tried out how the locking of a ship works." Small rafts or ships can be locked through the self-built run-of-the-river power plant. Simply illustrated, the guest understands how a ship is locked. 4th Station: River Engineering in the Basin Landscape "Here, 'river builders' can work, individually shaping the riverbed." Shovels, rakes, buckets, ... everything needed to change the course of a small river is provided at the cash desk. The path the water takes through the riverbed can be individually designed. Great fun for children and the young at heart. 5th Station: Iron Gate "At the Southern Carpathians, the Danube has no choice; it must pass through the narrow gorge between Romania and Serbia." It also gets narrow for anyone who dares to cross the "balancing path"! If you fall into the water, you should have spare clothes. Opposite the Iron Gate is the Danube Countries Children's Circle. All coats of arms of the ten Danube states are displayed here. 6th Station: Danube Delta, Black Sea with Cable Ferry and Sturgeon "Here lies the sturgeon on the Danube beach, particularly imposing at 9 meters long!" Mermaids and water spirits painted by children warmly welcome guests to the Danube Delta on the Black Sea. Those who wish can enjoy the view from the market house. On the other side is the largest Danube fish, a climbable "sturgeon" made of wood. The particularly brave dare to cross to the other bank. "The aliens are coming" Who are these aliens that mix with native plant and animal species and displace them? How did they spread, and what impact do they have on the balance of species? These and other questions are explored in the exhibition "The aliens are coming." 1st Large Aquarium with Danube Fish The heart of the exhibition is the large aquarium. Sturgeon (our "Harry Hausen" is 2 m long!) - the giant of the Danube - and sterlet can be seen up close here. While the sturgeon no longer occurs in the Upper Danube Valley today, the sterlet has survived to date in a self-reproducing species! 2nd Plants on the Move In the entrance area of the exhibition, non-native plants (neophytes) are on display, some of whose appearance shapes our cultural landscape. Others, in turn, are cultivated plants, whose promotion pushes back some native plants in their natural habitats. 3rd Interactive Play Areas See - understand - create. In the Mini-Danube water experience, the Danube is relived from its source to its mouth in six stations.
