Auferstehungskirche mit Totentanz

Next to the Breitenwang Deanery Parish Church, the Auferstehungskirche (Resurrection Church) adjoins the tower to the north. It was built around 1680 and expanded and rebuilt in 1724. The curved gable facade is crowned by hourglass, cross, and candlestick finials. Besides the remarkable Breitenwang Dance of Death, there is only one other in the German-speaking world that is also made of stucco. The basic idea is the dance in the form of a round dance, with Death in the middle, taking someone from life, regardless of whether they are poor or rich, young or old.
