The Mur Auen (riparian forests) are characterized by an exceptionally beautiful river landscape. The idyllic places and the wonderful landscape offer a comprehensive range of leisure activities such as hiking, running, horseback riding, Nordic walking, cycling, mountain biking, boating, and rafting on the Mur. Sports enthusiasts can experience the untouched nature, past fish and waterfowl, during a boat or canoe trip. The Mur is ideal for navigation and meanders with a gentle current through the towns and meadows. Gentle rapids are along the way, which even the youngest can master with enthusiasm. Driven by the gentle current, the journey goes through a charming landscape. The leisure paradise of the Mur Auen is not for nothing called the most beautiful fitness studio in Styria. At the natural pond in Edling, you can exercise your muscles at various stations or enjoy and relax during invigorating walks along the Mur. Cozy benches invite you to linger on dreamy paths. Between remnants of riparian forests, arable land, meadows, hillside forests, and tree cultures, one finds both natural and man-made bodies of water. This landscape mosaic can best be discovered on the Au-Erlebnis-Weg (Riparian Experience Path) in St. Peter ob Judenburg, opened in 2004. From the access roads in St. Peter, signs direct nature lovers to the starting point of the path north of the district of Furth. Over a distance of approximately 2 km, information about the riparian world is offered on display boards at a total of 5 stations. From the habitat of the riparian forest and oxbow lake to the river habitat and the Mur as a lifeline, the birdlife of the riparian area, and the meadow-soil habitat, one reaches the pond habitat at the Moserlacke just before the district of Pichl. The well-known Murradweg (Mur Cycle Path), which is very popular with many cyclists, leads through the municipalities of St. Peter, St. Georgen, and Unzmarkt-Frauenburg.
