Franz Politzer Born on May 2, 1950, in Vienna. After graduating from high school, he studied geology for two years, but then turned to studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His teacher was Prof. Walter Eckert, in whose master class he worked for five years. In 1975, Politzer completed his studies with a diploma. Since then, he has been working as a freelance artist and has had numerous exhibitions at home and abroad (including in Vienna, Linz, Graz, Frankfurt, Cologne, Bonn, Wiesbaden, Koblenz, Hamburg, Munich, Aachen, Bensheim, Maastricht, London, Cambridge). Participation in art fairs in Vienna, Innsbruck, Basel, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Washington, and Seoul. In 1974, Politzer received the prize of the federal capital Vienna at the Austrian graphic competition in Innsbruck. In 1992, he was awarded the Rhenish Art Prize in recognition of his entire oeuvre and his personality. In 1998, he designed illusionistic stagings for the Lower Austrian Donaufestival at its venues Krems and St. Pölten. In 2003, Politzer erected the Medientrichter (media funnel) in the publishing house building of Main-Echo in Aschaffenburg. In 2009, the Franz Politzer Collection was established at the district town of Limburg a. d. Lahn with eleven graphic portfolio works from the years 1980 to 1991, consisting of a total of 47 etchings and color etchings. In 2018, the collection was expanded by twelve oil paintings and five color etchings. In 2019, after further donations, the collection comprises 77 works. Franz Politzer lives and works in Millstatt, Carinthia.
