Contemporary architecture is a marginal phenomenon in Burgenland, a minority program among others. This contrasts with the historical, architectural-cultural uniqueness of the region: the peculiarities of the Pannonian climate, flora and fauna, and light; the anonymous, rural settlement structures that, until the recent past, represented a unity of economic and field forms, of elementary settlement methods and building typologies that has become rare in Europe. The aim and concern of the association is to promote contemporary architecture and to provide educational and mediation work in the relevant committees and in public. Under the motto Architekturraum Burgenland, efforts are made to improve communication between architects and builders, citizens and master builders, in order to enable new construction more than before.
