St. Johann in Salzburg, Salzburg
Built in 1301 as a former charnel house. In the cross-rib vaulted lower level, there is an important wooden sculpture depicting the Throne Saints – Heinrich II and Kunigunde (southern German, around 1530). The crypt hosts exhibitions in summer. Located between Wagrainer Straße and the parish church, the Annakapelle has survived as the last remnant of the former Gothic church complex after the devastating fire of 1855. Constructed in 1301, it was fully renovated externally and in the lower church from 1995 to 2000. A new staircase provides access to the lower church, which hosts changing exhibitions. The Annakapelle serves as a place of worship for the Evangelical community of St. Johann.
