Oberkappel is very popular, especially among fishing enthusiasts. The Rannastausee, the Rannabadesee, and the fly-fishing waters in the Ranna are ideally suited for fishing. Good fish stock of zander, carp, pike, rainbow trout, brown trout, tench, perch, and many more. Sale of fishing licenses: Since 2021, the Rannastausee has been managed jointly by Gasthof Süss and Energie AG OÖ and will therefore be available in the future as a unified body of water, from the confluence of the Osterbach to the dam wall, without fishing boundaries. This means that the entire Rannastausee can be fished with just one fishing license. The fishing regulations remain essentially unchanged, and the upper part of the Ranna (from the confluence of the Osterbach to the Langmühle) will continue to be managed as a fly-fishing section as before.
