Klaus, Upper Austria
The emerald-green lake stretches over 7 kilometers and offers a very special fishing ground on approximately 100 hectares of water surface. Nestled in the steep, fairytale-like conglomerate walls of the upper Steyrtal, it produces - thanks to the excellent water quality of the main tributaries Steyr and Teichl - salmonids of sometimes extraordinary size, as they find ideal living conditions here. Fishing can be enjoyed in various ways: from a boat or the shore, using streamers, wobblers, nymphs, or dry flies. In addition to fishing for lake, brown, rainbow trout, and char, fishing for pike and perch (both must be removed to protect salmonid stocks) or carp angling can also be worthwhile.
