The chapel shrine stands on the Bienenlehrpfad (bee educational trail) in Hintergöriach near Gasthof Lacknerhof and was built on the initiative of Leonhard Gruber, chairman of the Lungau Beekeepers' Association. The chapel was constructed in the traditional style with a square floor plan and is currently the only chapel of this type and size in Austria dedicated to St. Ambrosius, the patron saint of beekeepers. The foundation rests on twelve stones, symbolizing the twelve apostles. The curved tent roof is triple-layered with larch shingles. The gable decoration features the Caravaca Cross, which was most widespread in Central Europe from around 1600 to 1800 and is considered a protection against weather and demons. Inside the hollow sphere beneath the cross, there is a scroll with the most important historical data, a set of coins, and a Benedictine coin with a saying of St. Ambrosius.
