Photo: Ebner WilliSt. Nikola, Upper Austria
This house was built around 1600. The minute book of the market town St. Nikola mentions the schoolhouse for the first time in 1771. This was house No. 14, which stood in close proximity to the parish church. The ground floor served as a school, the upper floor as living quarters. Until this time, school lessons were probably only given privately. In 1813, the school moved to St. Nikola No. 10 and this house came into private ownership. The building has been in the family ownership of the Schwaiger family for over 100 years.
