Lesachtal, Carinthia
You want to experience the Lesachtal in winter from its most beautiful side? With the Alpinschule Lesachtal and its head Helmut Ortner, it's possible. Helmut turned his hobbies into his profession, and in addition to first ascents and climbs up to the eighth degree of difficulty, he also climbed the 8463 m high Makalu and traversed the N-face of the 8586 m high Kangchendzönga. Ski tours: Deep powder skiing is beautiful, but it becomes even more beautiful when you have managed the ascent under your own power. The valley is deeply snow-covered in winter, and tours are possible from December to mid-April. Snowshoe hiking: You can also experience the mountains in winter. With modern, light snowshoes, you can get almost anywhere in winter. The Gailtal Alps with their gentle slopes offer particularly ideal terrain for beginners.
