Alpenzoo

At the foot of the Nordkette, high above the rooftops of Tyrol's provincial capital, lies the Alpenzoo Innsbruck (750 m) with its approximately 2000 animals from 150 species. As a "theme zoo", it offers the world's largest collection of animals from the Alpine region in enclosures, aquariums and terrariums designed to be close to nature. These also include elk and wisent, which were still native to Tyrol after the last ice age. The crowd favorites bear, wolf and lynx are just as present as ibex, chamois and bearded vulture. Walk-in enclosures and large panoramic windows offer fascinating insights into the animal world of the Alps. Endangered domestic animal breeds are shown at the show farm and the "Bear Children's Playground" rounds off a successful Alpenzoo visit for our little animal friends!NEW!
