In the First Austrian Carnival and Customs Museum in Knittelfeld, there is festive activity all year round. And that on currently 300 square meters. More than 3,500 exhibits from all over Europe, the USA, Canada, Africa, and Brazil are displayed. The museum is located at the Knittelfeld main square. Around the museum, there is a short-term parking zone, and a public barrier-free parking lot is about 70 meters away in front of the Stadtapotheke. The nearest parking garage is approximately 150 meters away. The museum itself is only accessible via a long staircase. A radio play and music typical for the carnival season play in the background. The display cases are placed at easily visible heights, and some of the carnival costumes, headgear, and medals can be touched by people with visual impairments or blindness. Children can dress up, craft, and play in a room set up especially for them under supervision. People with disabilities can participate in the usual guided tours without any problems. However, individual tours are also possible upon request. When registering in advance, the very friendly and helpful staff are happy to accommodate special needs.
